Hamilton County Commissioner Lee Helton hosted a community meeting at East Hamilton High School to discuss a 30,000-square-foot indoor sports complex proposed on East Brainerd Road near Cherokee Valley Road.

The property is zoned for agricultural use, and developer Prime Homes is requesting it be rezoned to a commercial district.

The rezoning request will be considered by the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission, which is set to hear the case Monday.

According to a handout distributed at Thursday’s meeting, plans for the proposed facility include batting cages, three tennis courts, a basketball court and four pickleball courts, as well as locker rooms, a pro shop and a lounge and viewing area.

Sewer capacity and traffic were among the issues related to the development of the site raised at the meeting, which drew about 60 people.
