Authorities in Sequatchie County are awaiting confirmation of the identity of a woman whose body was found Saturday in a remote area of Fredonia Mountain.
The body is believed to be that of Morgan Davis, 26, reported missing June 25 after having last been seen June 3, according to a statement issued Saturday by the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office. The body was found Saturday in deep woods on top of Fredonia Mountain in the area of Flat Mountain Road.

Flat Mountain Road is a sparsely populated, rural route about a mile long, 3 miles northwest of Dunlap. It runs parallel to a portion of Fredonia Road.
Due to the condition of the body, positive identification and a determination on whether foul play was involved are pending the results of an autopsy, Sheriff Bill Phillips said Monday via text. The cause of death is unknown as investigators wait for autopsy findings.
Morgan was last seen on Fredonia Mountain in the Deerhead community the evening of June 3, authorities said. The Deerhead community is about 2 miles west of the general area where the body was found.
