NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have released cornerback L’Jarius Sneed after two disappointing seasons, with Friday’s move freeing up more salary cap space for a franchise that has been investing heavily in free agents since the NFL’s new league year began Wednesday.

Sneed played only 12 games combined in the 2024 and 2025 seasons without a single interception and was placed on injured reserve in October.

The Titans gave the two-time Super Bowl champion a four-year contract while making him the NFL’s fifth-highest paid cornerback in March 2024 after a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. Sneed’s deal gave him an average of $19.4 million as part of Tennessee’s last big spending spree before this year.

The 29-year-old’s exit was not unexpected after his struggles to stay healthy and Tennessee’s moves this week that included signing a trio of free-agent cornerbacks: Cor’Dale Flott (most recently with the New York Giants), Alontae Taylor (New Orleans Saints) and Joshua Williams (Chiefs).

Tennessee started the NFL’s legal tampering period Monday by agreeing to deals worth at least $270 million and just keeps adding to a roster that includes only 18 players who were drafted by the Titans. Second-year general manager Mike Borgonzi can clear more salary cap space if needed.
