In Red Bank and The Point Church’s first large-scale Easter event, Willie Robertson, of “Duck Dynasty” fame, will visit UTC’s McKenzie Area for an evangelistic event.
The free event, titled “Rise Up at the Roundhouse,” will feature Robertson being interviewed by Sam Greer, senior pastor at Red Bank and The Point Church. It will be at 10:30 a.m. April 5 at McKenzie Arena.
“A lot of people may show up to a church building to see me that they wouldn’t normally show up, but they’ll show up because they were fans of the show or they’re hunters, or for whatever reason, they show up,” Robertson said in a video interview. “And so it gives us a touch point there to maybe start a conversation with them in some way.”
That message, about starting gospel conversations with people, lined up with the mission of the church, Greer said. After he read Robertson’s book, “Gospeler,” about sharing the gospel in everyday life, Greer said to himself, “Man, this is our language.”
Greer, who came to Chattanooga to serve as senior pastor at Red Bank in 2012, said his church focuses on three ways to evangelize: come and see, go and tell, and tell as you go. The third aligns with Robertson’s message.
