Development disrupts Hixson neighborhood

Great article about the huge development at Highway 153 and Boy Scout Road, which documented how long people have tried to protect this farmland. It also highlighted Ethan Collier, the developer and head of the Planning Commission, who refused to talk to you (or your readers) about it, demonstrating his lack of regard for the hardship the people, animals and birds are enduring because of his project.

This development has affected my neighborhood. Like other neighbors, we investigated potential construction before buying our house and understood the development would be modest. We thought the matter settled. I do not know anyone who remembers receiving a “notice” about the new changes, which allowed Collier to destroy an additional 100+ acres. Additionally, calling it “Hwy 153 and Boy Scout Road” is misleading. Our street isn’t really considered close to Boy Scout at all, so we wouldn’t have made the connection.

For weeks we’ve witnessed and heard the devastation by heavy machinery. While our backyard view is better than others, the continual noise for all of us every day from 7 a.m. (sometimes earlier or later) to 6 p.m. has been dreadful. And we wonder, how long will it take to build 478 houses and townhouses?
