I recently had the honor of being asked to judge a cooking contest, Morning Pointe’s Top Chef Challenge, the first ever, at the East Hamilton campus of Morning Pointe Assisted Living.
It was a competition that pitted three food directors/chefs, all from Morning Pointe’s Lookout region. There are five locations spread around the Chattanooga area. Two are in Fort Oglethorpe, two in the Hamilton Place area and one in Hixson. Two of the chefs in the competition were from East Hamilton facilities, and one was from Morning Pointe at Happy Valley in Fort Oglethorpe. All dishes were absolutely delicious, but there could only be one winner, and on this evening, it was Brittney Brown from Happy Valley for her pan-seared salmon florentine.
This is not the first award she’s won for her culinary skills. She’s won awards for her baking and her chili, as well as a cookie bake-off last December.
“I had such an amazing time,” she said.
“To beat the other two chefs — Jeff Kirk and Andrew Tredway — was surreal. Both are such great chefs. I honestly couldn’t believe it. I love creating beautiful dishes that taste amazing.”
