Does Democratic candidate’s cryptic message leave District 30 seat to Helton-Haynes?

A Tennessee Lookout article earlier this week tabbed the District 30 state House race among eight “other Tennessee state House (races) that could be in play in 2026.”

That House seat is held by state Rep. Esther Helton-Haynes, R-East Ridge, who initially was elected in 2018 and is seeking her fifth term.

Her opponent, who qualified through the Hamilton County Election Commission, is Democrat Art Rymer.

But there’s a problem.

If one clicks on Rymer’s ostensible campaign website (art4tn.com), the following sentence comes up: “Due to frustration with the local and state Democratic parties, I am currently not campaigning for office.”
