Bravo Soddy Daisy. Bravo Red Bank! I wish Chattanooga's and Hamilton County's Commissioners had not been so ignorant as to what they were doing, passing a law against some of their most law abiding citizens.
Mltoran said, "truthfully many are not as conciencious as my husband" and you can say this because you personally know how many of the 220,000 hcp holders in this state? I beg to differ with you on your illogical deduction.
One point the council used for their own justification in their forth coming decision was that "even police officers miss their target more than 50% of the time under duress." Granted, that's probably true but the parents of those students killed at Virginia Tech wish anyone with a gun had been in class that day 'cause if they could only hit 25% of their targets that was 25% more chance than the 0% their child had. Even if a good guy shooting and missing all his target would have distracted the shooter 'til the police could arrive. (Hard to focus on the shooting gallery while ducking bullets yourself and it may have bought more escape time for others). If any of my family were in harms way and a crazed shooter started shooting, I'd want anyone that can to fire 'em up.
I know, according to our Chief Cooper and the parks director, it's not likely to happen here cause these are gun free areas. Also Council Women Berz pointed out how good our past system has worked. Well, they also said it couldn't happen at Virginia Tech or Columbine, after all, these were gun free zones too and the law had worked so well in the past. The law only kept legal guns away.
Chief Cooper denied for the longest that we even had a gang problem so he's been wrong before.
God forbid anything like this from ever happening but the Chattanooga Counsel just set the stage.
Let's see where these liberals stand by encouraging the local yokels to start passing laws about what this liberal paper can and can't write about. I'll bet they start screeming, "you're infringing on my 1st amendment rights, you can't do that, I know my rights."
I guess it would be smarter to leave them in your unattended vehicle or maybe they'll open a drive thru for their food patrons. A proponent to make decisions about my rights because of his ignorant a*@ won't get my business. I don't carry 95% of the time but I don't want some liberal telling me I can't. Any American should care about their rights being infringed upon whether you own a gun or not. I agree, alcohol and guns don't mix but this law is about people who are not drinking and exercising their rights. Americans have died to defend these rights. After going after the 2nd amendment, where does it stop?
Chattanooga: Police Chief Cooper says NAACP meeting could have been better handled
I'm sorry but the NAACP comes across as a racist organization and as long as they do, they will never make a difference in the community.
Soddy-Daisy to allow guns in parks

Guns in parks a false choice

Signal bans guns in parks
Hopefully Americans who resent their rights being infringed upon will remember this when time comes for re-election.

Council set to vote on guns in parks prohibition next week
Now that you're disarming the law abiding citizens, what are you passing to protect them? More hot air I guess.
Hamilton County Commission shoots down guns-in-parks provision
Idiots. They don't know what they've done. Let's vote 'em out of office. Hear that boys? They just made you a safe zone.
