KNOXVILLE – A man convicted of threatening to kill a lawyer has been freed by a judge in Tennessee after spending 35 months in prison.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that U.S. District Judge Pamela Reeves sentenced Leon Houston to time served on the conviction. Reeves on Monday placed Houston on supervised release for two years and ordered him to undergo treatment for drug abuse and mental health issues.

Houston was in jail on a federal charge of being high on marijuana while possessing guns in January 2013 when he threatened to kill attorney Jim Logan.

Logan represented him in the 2006 shooting deaths of Roane County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Bill Jones and ride along Mike Brown. Houston was acquitted but a dispute arose over payment for Logan’s services.
