Even Frosty the Snowman has to go away at some point – and so will Ice on the Landing, which closes on the M.L. King Jr. holiday next week.

Thanks to a successful initial run in 2014, the temporary ice rink on The Green at Ross’s Landing opened a week earlier in 2015 (Nov. 20) and was almost twice as big (60 by 100 feet compared to the original 50 by 70 feet).

There are still a couple of special promotions scheduled for the final days. Tonight, Jan. 14, is Family Night. Kids who attend with a paying adult can skate for free from 5 to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Jan. 16, visitors can skate with the penguin mascots from the Tennessee Aquarium from 6 to 8 p.m.
