Two men charged with abducting a Chattanooga man last year and bringing him to Bradley County were found guilty during a trial in U.S. District Court this week.
Abraham Augustin, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Lorrance Dais, of Clemmons, N.C., were arrested after local and federal officials located the kidnapping victim, who was unharmed and bound to a tree in a wooded area near Interstate 75, said Bob Gault, a spokesman for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
During the three-day trial, presided by U.S. District Judge Curtis Collier, several Bradley County detectives were called to testify about the investigation that led to the arrests of Augustin, 26, and Dais, 23, Gault said.
The jury returned verdicts Wednesday finding Augustin guilty of kidnapping, use of a firearm in furtherance of kidnapping, a felon in possession of a firearm, conspiracy to commit murder, three counts of attempted murder and obstruction of justice, Gault said.
Dais was found guilty of kidnapping, use of a firearm in furtherance of kidnapping and a felon in possession of a firearm.
