KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A Knox County jury is deliberating the murder charge against Raynella Dossett Leath.
She is being tried a second time in the shooting death of her second husband David Leath in 2003. The jury in her trial last year couldn’t agree on a verdict.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported the sequestered jury of eight woman and four men deliberated for about six hours after getting the first-degree murder case Sunday and requested to again hear Dossett Leath’s call to 911. The judge also approved a request to have the .38-caliber pistol sent to the jury room.
Leath was shot once in the head at the couple’s home. Investigators found three shots were fired from the revolver found near his body.
Dossett Leath is also charged with murder in 1992 death of her first husband, Ed Dossett.
