Tennessee Valley Theatre in Spring City, Tenn., will present “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” over the next two weekends.
The play by John Bishop centers on a creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop – after three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious “Stage Door Slasher.” They’ve assembled for a backers audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy benefactor.
The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways and a German maid who apparently has four identities, all of which figure diabolically in the comic mayhem that follows when the infamous slasher reappears and strikes again.
Dan Frank is directing, with backstage assistance from Jerry Scroggins.
The comedy is rated PG-13 for its subject matter.
