CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Bradley County residents are being asked their opinions on a host of community services.

The 2010 Community Needs Assessment, available through United Way of Bradley County and the Bradley Memorial Health Endowment Fund, is expected to pinpoint local needs and assess existing services.

“The more response we receive, the more we will have an idea of how the community feels about existing services and those needs that they feel are not being adequately addressed,” said Dr. David Watts, who developed the survey along with Dr. Rodney Fitzgerald.

The forms are available online at the United Way website and in paper form in waiting rooms and offices throughout the county.

The deadline for responding is June 15.

The anonymous survey contains questions relating to education, income, health, veterans’ services and services for the elderly. Participants are asked to rate services.

Though anonymous, the survey does ask some demographic questions, including age, gender, education level and occupation.

“We are pleased that hundreds have already participated,” Dr. Fitzgerald said. “If you have completed the needs assessment, we ask that you pass the word along to others.”

The two doctors ask that each person complete the survey only once.

Allen Mincey, United Way spokesman, said the survey first was done in 2008 and is part of the United Way’s agreement with the Bradley Memorial Health Endowment.

United Way of Bradley County administers part of the investment income from the 2005 sale of the county-owned hospital. The income, as well as another portion overseen by county government, addresses community health, wellness and quality-of-life issues.
