ATLANTA (AP) – A series of multi-vehicle crashes on an Atlanta freeway led to a traffic jam that stretched for miles.

Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee says 14 cars were involved in four separate crashes Sunday afternoon on the Downtown Connector – an area where interstates 75 and 85 meet near midtown and downtown Atlanta.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials say the crash happened near the 17th Street exit. Chafee says a group of vehicles were traveling northbound in a line when another car cut one of them off. Chafee says several vehicles toward the back of the line crashed when they tried stopping for the initial accident.

No serious injuries have been reported.
