The force is very strong with these Chattanooga Lookouts.

Chattanooga broke a 5-5 tie with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday night to defeat Tennessee 9-6 before a healthy crowd of 5,763 at AT&T Field on “Star Wars Night.” The win was the sixth in a row for the Lookouts, who are 23-13 overall and 10-1 in May.

Brent Rooker began Chattanooga’s rally in the seventh with a double to right field, and that was followed by Nick Gordon’s single to center, Zander Wiel’s single to left, Edgar Corcino’s double to right and Chris Paul’s single to left. Paul scored Corcino to give the Lookouts a 9-5 lead.

The Smokies grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Zack Short’s two-run homer to left, but Chattanooga answered later in the first with a four-run outburst that was highlighted by Wiel’s ground-rule double that scored LaMonte Wade as well as Alex Perez’s single to center that scored Wiel and Paul. Wiel, who went 3-for-5 to raise his season average to .325, singled to center in the second inning to score T.J. White and give the Lookouts a 5-2 lead.

Tennessee pulled into a 5-5 deadlock with a two-run fourth, with a Charcer Burks single to left scoring Erick Castillo and Trey Martin.

The two teams will play this afternoon at 2:15.
