Director of Citywide Services under scrutiny

Jimmy Templeton, Chattanooga’s director of citywide services, is currently under investigation after it was found the city did business with a company that directly employs his brother, step-daughter and son-in-law, the Times Free Press has learned.

The company, City Disposal Services LLC, works as a contractor for the city and has done business with Chattanooga for a number of years.

According to an informal audit conducted by City Auditor Stan Sewell, Templeton was directly involved with the negotiations of several contracts with City Disposal LLC and never disclosed his personal relationships, a direct violation of City Code.

The memo from Sewell also states that the owner of the company, Ray Marler, gave gifts to city employees, also a code violation.

The city’s audit committee is currently investigating the findings.
