Firefighters extinguished a house fire in north Hixson late Thursday afternoon, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department.
An alarm came in about 5 p.m. and the department sent four fire companies to the 300 block of Branch Drive, the report said. Battalion Chief Don Bowman said a neighbor was the first to notice the fire and called 911.
Smoke and flames were visible when the first firefighters arrived on the scene and firefighters made their way inside the house with handheld hose lines and got the fire under control fairly quickly, Chief Bowman said. No one appeared to be home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
An estimate on the dollar loss was not available and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Chattanooga police and Hamilton County Emergency Services also provided assistance on the scene.
