As the news of Pat Summitt’s condition circulated this weekend, I thought quickly about the first time I met the legendary former University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach.
Not long after becoming sports editor at the Times Free Press, I went to Knoxville to meet the major players. They were all very accommodating in 2004, but Summitt was different.
