Special-effects makeup artists Darla and Terry Wigley will be the featured guests for The Backlot: A Place for Filmmakers on Monday, Oct. 17.
The Wigleys have more than 20 years’ experience in special effects and beauty makeup. Their company, Wigley FX, is a full-service studio for film, television and indie projects ranging from basic makeup looks to prosthetics, masks and props. Although skilled in all types of makeup, the horror genre is “dearest to their hearts,” says a news release. They are regularly requested to speak and run workshops at conventions, trade shows and seminars. When not on the set, they teach makeup effects and beauty classes in Tennessee and Georgia.
The evening also includes:
* Two casting calls for the latest projects from David Piersaul of East Tennessee State University and Leonard Jackson of the Professional Actor Training Program at Chattanooga State Community College.
* Screenings of short films by local filmmakers before the main presentation.
* Networking with film industry professionals. Head shots and business cards are welcome.
Admission to The Backlot is free, but food is potluck, so those attending are strongly encouraged to bring a side, beverage, covered dish or dessert to share.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m., with the main presentation by the Wigleys scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
The Backlot meets the third Monday of each month at Heritage House. The facility is also home to a free Classic Film Series on third Thursdays.
