The man captured Sunday in connection with a woman found dead in his house on Lookout Mountain in DeKalb County, Ala., has been charged with murder.

An autopsy found the woman, Bobbie Lynn Ross, died from blunt-force trauma to the head, DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a statement Thursday.

Doug Minor, 32, admitted to investigators that he, Ross and a woman identified as Norma Jo Grinnell had been on a three- to four-day methamphetamine high when he got into an argument with the women and struck them both, Harris said.

Minor is charged with murder in Ross’ death, and is additionally charged with assault and kidnapping of Grinnell, 36, Harris said.

“We are continuing to interview possible witnesses and collect evidence,” Harris said.

Minor and Grinnell left Minor’s house before authorities found Ross’ body on Saturday.

An air and ground search failed to find them, but the pair walked up to a home on Cherokee County Road 47 around 9 a.m. Sunday and asked for water and transportation.

The homeowner said no and, seeing them go into an abandoned chicken house below his residence, called 911.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and deputies were approaching the chicken house when Grinnell walked out and asked for help.

Minor refused to come out and tried to run out the back, but was tackled by deputies.

Grinnell was treated at DeKalb Regional Medical Center for facial injuries.
