Sarah Bowen and John Walker toast their little Yorkie Poo every time they call him. “Beau,” short for Beaujolais, came from a naming theme the couple has going.
“Our boat is named ‘Uncorked’ and our dinghy is named ‘Corkscrew,’ so we thought a wine name was fitting for a little feisty dog,” Bowen said.
Beau, who will be 2 years old later this month, has made an impression on all the female dogs at Play Dog Excellence, where he spends his days when his owners are at work. They just love him, Bowen said.
But prancing around trying to draw attention from the canine ladies is not his only hobby. He’s a sportsman at heart.
“He loves to run, hike, swim, boat, boogie board and play chase,” Bowen said. He also likes to rumble with the couple’s other two dogs, Nola, a 7-year-old border collie, and Jazz, a 10-year-old golden retriever.
