Hamilton County voters Thursday chose Republican Jeffrey Atherton as Hamilton County’s new Chancery Court judge.
Atherton, with 22 years of legal practice and 20 years experience in coaching home-schooled children the ways of mock trial, will fill the vacancy left by longtime Chancellor Howell Peoples.
With more than 98 percent of the votes tallied, Atherton received 25,324 votes.
Democrat Valerie Epstein polled 11,014 votes, and Independent Art Grisham had 7,928 votes.
