After his father’s death in 1977, Jack formed JTL Corp., which controlled and managed the largest group of bottling companies in the United States. He served for many years on the board of directors of the Coca-Cola Co. in Atlanta.

The three things he was most proud of were his involvement with the Lyndhurst Foundation, the Tennessee Aquarium and the Honors Golf Course, all of which helped change the face of a decaying city and none of which would have happened without him.

Other leadership roles included Baylor School, the Boys Club (both locally and nationally), Augusta National Golf Club, Church of the Good Shepherd, and UTC.
