A 45-year-old Sequatchie County man was killed Wednesday in a motorcycle crash on Industrial Boulevard in Jasper, Tenn.

Clarence J. Evans, of Hill Circle in Dunlap, died at the scene Wednesday after his 2003 Honda XTR left the road at a high rate of speed as he negotiated a curve, Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper George Stephens’ preliminary report states. Evans and his motorcycle ended up going through a fence and into a field before coming to rest.

Although Evans was wearing a helmet, it was not a U.S. Department of Transportation approved helmet, Trooper Stephens noted.
