Chattanooga man burned in grease fire

A man was burned today battling a grease fire in a home on Quinn Adams Street, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department spokeswoman.

Capt. Terri D. Whiteside said Michael McCorkle, 35, ran from his house to his uncle’s house at 4105-A Quinn Adams to put out a fire that started in a pan on the stove. He put the pan in the kitchen sink and doused it with water, which splattered flaming grease on his hands and arms.

When firefighters arrived at 12:19, the fire was out, Whiteside said.

McCorkle was taken to Erlanger hospital for treatment, she said.
