The Thunder Road festival, a nod to the region’s moonshine runners of the 1950s, returns to Rockwood, Tenn., on Saturday.
Vintage cars and trucks will be on display, and vendors will have arts, crafts and food available. Activities are centered at Memorial Park on Pumphouse Road in Rockwood.
Entertainment includes Amy Duggar from the television series “19 Kids and Counting,” the original Thunder Road Band and Russ Roberts.
New this year are all-ages pageants to crown the Itty Bitty Hillbilly (children up to age 4), Lil Miss Daisy and Mr. Doodyville (girls and boys ages 5-12), Miss Ellie May (girls 13-19) and Ms. Belle & Hard-Headed Hillbilly (women and men 20 and older). Day-of registration costs $20 for any of the contests. Contestants will be judged on originality, personality and 1950s costume interpretation.
