McMinn County authorities have arrested and charged three men in connection with a host of vandalism and thefts in Bradley and McMinn counties.

Casey Thomas, 18, of Athens; Barry Burbank, 20, of Sweetwater, Tenn.; and Jeremy Mulkey, 19, admitted to throwing mailboxes and a motor off overpasses onto cars at least three different times, McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy said.

The motor that was thrown over the County Road 130 overpass shattered the windshield of a charter bus carrying a group of Lee University students and injured the driver, Guy said.

The three men also were linked to vandalism at the new Cleveland airport on Nov. 16 in which two backhoes were used to cause more than $100,000 in damage, Bradley County officials said.

The men face charges including conspiracy to commit reckless homicide, reckless endangerment and felony vandalism, Guy said.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office also plans to charge the men with vandalism over $60,000, sheriff’s spokesman Bob Gault said.
