A Ringgold, Ga., man is facing charges in Hamilton County related to an alleged carjacking incident that occurred on Gunbarrel Road more than two years ago.

On March 16, 2016, Michael Spector said he was driving on East Brainerd Road, approaching Gunbarrel Road when he stopped at an intersection and an unknown man ran up to him, according to court documents.

He said the man, later identified as Gregory Scott, 27, was wearing a white t-shirt with blood on it. Scott told Spector he had been hit by a car and needed a ride to the emergency room before opening Spector’s passenger door and climbing into his truck.

Spector turned on Gunbarrel Road toward the Erlanger East emergency room, but passed because it appeared to be closed. Scott then began asking to be taken to Erlanger downtown but as Spector tried to turn around, the suspect told him to get out of the truck. Scott also started reaching toward his pants leg and told Spector he had a gun.

Spector got out of the truck and told officers he last saw the suspect driving south on Gunbarrel Road. A short time later, Georgia State Patrol located the vehicle, pursued it and captured Scott.

He has been charged with carjacking, reckless driving, failure to render aid and failure to report an accident. He is next scheduled to appear before General Sessions Judge Gary Starnes on May 10.
