Students at Normal Park Upper School were evacuated for a short time Friday afternoon, Hamilton County Schools spokesman Tim Hensley confirmed.

A blown fuse caused officials to call 911, prompting a response from the Chattanooga Fire Department for what was reported as a school fire, according to the Hamilton County 911 website.

But no fire was found, fire department spokesman Bruce Garner said.

Hensley said the fire department cleared the situation, the fuse was replaced and all students have since returned to the building.

Incidentally, a fire door replacement is included in the district’s proposed budget for the upcoming year.

The fire door is old, which “makes it hard to get parts,” Hensley said. That is why it needs to be replaced.
