Newly-elected Hamilton County Commissioner Tim Boyd on Friday resigned a job he recently started at P&C Construction in Chattanooga.
Boyd worked for three weeks as an estimator for the company, helping determine costs for projects and helping submit bids. His job had the potential to create situations in which P&C would bid on county work. Boyd said he would recuse himself from any votes or discussions concerning P&C bids or contracts, and the county attorney had said that would ensure there would be no conflicts of interest.
Boyd said the days the bids for work went out – Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – conflicted with his commission schedule.
Commissioners usually meet Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
“I couldn’t perform the duties P&C and I mutually agreed to,” Boyd said.
