CLEVELAND, Tenn. – A proposal before the Bradley County Commission would create a permit for homeowners who want to install or upgrade a heating and air conditioning system.
The permit would include a county inspection to protect homeowners from unscrupulous contractors.
HVAC systems are one of several items that would be covered by the permit fee.
The proposal will be discussed at a future commission work session. The next session is Monday at 7 p.m.
“We’ve never had a mechanical permit fee,” County Building Inspector Don Wyatt told commissioners Monday. “We never had a mechanical building code until we voted it in last October.”
