An Ooltewah High School student was arrested on Thursday after a school shooting threat was discovered written on a bathroom wall on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
After the school’s resource officer and administration investigated the threat, the officer obtained a confession from the student. The student told authorities there was no intention to follow through with the threat.
The original threat was for Friday. There is no indication of a remaining threat to students at the school on Friday, but the sheriff’s office will have extra officers on hand to ensure student and faculty safety, the release states.
The student is facing criminal charges through juvenile court.
