The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball success on the road actually started at home.
On the practice floor.
The Mocs’ coaches make things uncomfortable. Players will go through practices without getting a single foul called for them, forcing them to play through adversity. While they’re shooting free throws, coaches either throw basketballs or roll them around the vicinity of the players or hit the horn. Anything they can do to throw the players off.
The success is evident. The Mocs have won a program-record 10 road games with remaining – on Feb. 29 at Virginia Military Institute.
“The coaches really make things tough on us,” senior guard Dee Oldham said. “They do a good job of making us focus.”
