GREENSBORO, N.C. — Dr. Ahmed Wattad had a quick message for his son from a front-row seat in the Greensboro Coliseum.
“Atta boy, now go win the game.”
Then Omar Wattad stepped to the free-throw line with 10.8 seconds left and sank two free throws to give the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga a four-point lead in its Southern Conference basketball game Saturday over UNC Greensboro.
He hit two more with less than a second to play, and the Mocs won 70-65.
Wattad did plenty before the final seconds. He led all players with a career-high 26 points, including five 3-point baskets.
