Volkswagen Group officials today set a goal to become a world leader in sustainable mobility, calling for more than 30 electric vehicle models by 2025.
In its so-called “Strategy 2025,” the company that has an assembly plant in Chattanooga is aiming for annual sales of electric vehicles for the group of between 2 million and 3 million units.
“The Volkswagen Group will be more focused, efficient, innovative, customer-driven and sustainable – and systematically geared to generating profitable growth,” said CEO Matthias Mueller, in a statement
The company said Strategy 2025 “ushers in the biggest change process in the company’s history, with the focus on transforming the core business and tapping potential new revenue streams.”
Plans are to boost operating return on sales to 7 percent to 8 percent, according to the German automaker.
In addition, the company plans to realign its components business.
