Calvary Baptist hosts first Hometown Fair

Calvary Baptist Church is bringing a new fall event called the Hometown Fair to Red Bank – with the emphasis on “home.”

“A lot of times, churches, we kind of neglect our own hometown,” said senior pastor Dwight Martin. “I think your community needs to see the church outside the walls of the church building.”

So the congregation is inviting the community to join them for face painting, a petting zoo, inflatables, popcorn, cotton candy, hamburgers and hot dogs and more Saturday, Oct. 12, from 1-6 p.m. at the church.

The free family-friendly event also includes vendors, which will be selling products that range from Pampered Chef cookware to jewelry to soap to apple butter. Another highlight of the inaugural fair is the car show, which will feature classics and even a Model T Ford, added Martin.

“There’s going to be some really unique cars at the car show,” he said.

The evening closes out with live bluegrass music, courtesy of the band The Servers from Villa Rica, Ga.

“[The fair] is really community-centered, right here in Red Bank,” said assistant pastor Chris Ware. “It’s a way for people to have a good time.”
