Heritage High School senior pitcher Dylan Bice has had a strong summer for the Exposure Baseball team coached by Brandon Turner after committing in May to play collegiately for East Tennessee State. Bice is ranked 61st in Georgia and in the top 500 nationally in the class of 2016 by Perfect Game.
In his last outing this past weekend in the mammoth Perfect Game tournament, the 6-foot-4 right-hander struck out 10 of the 14 Team Mississippi players he faced in Marietta. His fastball regularly was timed at 90-91 mph and topped out at 92.
“I think he’s got the potential to be a front-line guy, no matter where he would go,” Turner said Monday, “but ETSU made him an offer he couldn’t turn down, and I think it’s a good fit for him.”
Bice was called out of class one day in May to take a call from the Johnson City school, and he was offered a full scholarship. He talked to his parents and called back to commit to the Buccaneers that same day.
“I love it up there. They have great facilities and the people there are awesome,” Bice said, noting that he plans to make his commitment official in the November signing period. He feels good not only about his fastball but also about his changeup and slider.
