NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb University is holding an acoustic concert featuring Charlie Daniels, Amy Grant, Kix Brooks and Gretchen Wilson to raise money for veterans to go to school.
The Operation Yellow Ribbon event on March 23 will also feature a symposium on helping military members transition from the battlefield to the home front. Retired U.S. Army Gen. Tommy Franks, who ran the initial war effort in Afghanistan, will be the keynote speaker.
Tickets to the concert are on sale for $10.
The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post 9/11 GI Bill that allows universities to offer additional scholarships with funds that are matched by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Lipscomb’s program would offer eligible military veterans and their family members an undergraduate degree tuition-free.
