Cherokee County, Ala., authorities have charged a Gaylesville man with attempted murder following an incident on County Road 77 where a man was shot multiple times.

Jeremy Bleu Clifton, 38, was charged with attempted murder in the March 21 shooting of 27-year-old Tyler Nance, Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said in a statement.

Sheriff’s officers arrived on the scene and rendered medical aid to the victim until emergency medical services staff arrived, Shaver said. Cherokee EMS transported the victim to a landing zone at Cedar Bluff School where he was airlifted to an area hospital. Nance is listed in critical but stable condition, the sheriff said.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator Josh Summerford charged Clifton on Friday with attempted murder and remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Clifton was arrested on Thursday for second-degree domestic violence in connection with a separate incident and is being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond for the domestic violence charge.
