FORT GORDON, Ga. – A spokesman at Fort Gordon says explosives were found in a vehicle parked at the Army post and a civilian has been arrested.
Buz Yarnell, a spokesman for the post near Augusta, says the explosives were found and the arrest was made after military police saw what they considered a suspicious vehicle Tuesday afternoon.
WSB Radio reports that a search of the vehicle uncovered a sack filled with military hand grenades. The station says the person arrested is a suspect in the theft of military equipment from the post.
Yarnell says the vehicle was parked in a remote area when it was discovered. He says it did not pose a threat to command operations or military housing.
