Dropping fluoridation is poor public health policy
I am astounded that Soddy-Daisy commissioners voted to stop treating their water supply with fluoride – by an astonishing 6-1 vote!
Kudos to Commissioner Carlos Wilson.
I can only conclude that the cost saving while doing the $9 million North West Utility District expansion was too tempting.
Water fluoridation was first introduced in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1945. Since then, the CDC has identified this practice as one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century and credited it with reducing tooth decay by 25 percent with no unwanted health effects.
