Chattanooga police are looking for a man who witnesses say held a knife to the throat of a woman as he robbed her early Monday morning.
Brittany Hughes, 22, said she was in the parking lot of the Chattanooga Food and Drink nightclub at 12:38 a.m. when a man between 25 and 35 years old asked her for a cigarette, according to a police news release.
She told police the man pulled a knife, held it to her throat and demanded money.
Ms. Hughes’ sister, who was not named in the release, witnessed the act and ran to get help.
Security workers at the club, at 5647 Brainerd Road, tried to stop the man, but he drove away.
Witnesses said the man was black, between 5 foot 3 and 5 foot 5, had short hair and a full short beard and wore a black baseball cap; a Polo-style shirt with blue, white and yellow horizontal stripes; dark jeans shorts; and black shoes.
He drove an early 2000s model dark-green Dodge Neon sedan, four-door with a baseball-sized hole near the side-view mirror of the front windshield.
Anyone with information about the incident or suspect is asked to call Chattanooga police at 423-698-2525.
