The Athens Area Council for the Arts is sponsoring a week-long residency, “School Sculptures,” at two schools in Athens, Tenn., Monday through Thursday.
Actor and visual artist Kevin Reese will work with third-graders at City Park Elementary and ninth-graders at Athens Junior High School to design mobile sculptures for permanent installation at The Arts Center. The mobiles will be installed Thursday in the lobby of the center followed by a reception at 6 p.m.
After the reception, Mr. Reese will present his show, “A Prefect Balance,” a multimedia performance that explores creativity. The performance concludes with the introduction of a 17-foot mobile.
The project is funded by the Scott and Muriel Mayfield family.
