LaFayette Pool provides rescue from the heat

With record high temperatures in the 90s already and forecasters predicting no change in sight, there is no better way to cool off than at the pool.

The LaFayette Pool, located at 638 S. Main St., is open and ready for the anticipated large crowds, according to Patti Scott, LaFayette director of parks and recreation.

“We have a great staff and a great facility, which is in walking distance to the gymnasium and game room, to accommodate all family activities,” she said.

The pool is open to everyone seven days a week and has a rotating staff of 15 lifeguards employed by the city and trained by the American Red Cross, said Scott.

The facility has added a new pump and chlorinations to the pool. The LaFayette City Council recently approved the additions, which were funded by city budgeting, said Scott.
