NBC vs. Pledge of Allegiance

There have been numerous attempts in federal courts in recent years to ban the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag in public schools and even at presidential inaugurations. That’s because some nonbelievers object to the use of the phrase “under God” in the pledge.

Those attempts have failed. But NBC apparently sides with those who want “under God” left out of the pledge.

Twice during its recent broadcast of the U.S. Open golf tournament, the liberal network aired a video montage that included children reciting the pledge. But in each case, the words “under God” were deliberately edited out.

Public reaction to the removal of the words was swift and, not surprisingly, quite negative. That’s because the overwhelming majority of Americans cherish the Pledge of Allegiance as it is and want to acknowledge our Creator and our nation’s heritage.

NBC later called it “regrettable” that the words had been removed from its broadcast of the pledge, and said it was not meant “to upset anyone.”
