An early morning struggle Friday over a gun left James Watkins Jr. with multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen.
Watkins, 27, told police he encountered a gunman at his home at 1915 Raulston St. shortly after 4 a.m., and the two fought over the gun.
After the shooting, Watkins said he saw two men run from his house. He crawled to his car and droveto a relative’s house on Orton Street.
Police found a side window of Watkins’ house broken out and the entire home ransacked, but they are unsure what, if anything, was stolen, said Sgt. Jerri Weary, spokeswoman for the Chattanooga Police Department.
