Why ruin good thing with development?

The overwhelming majority of Hixson residents oppose the Chattanooga Village development proposal to destroy 190 acres of forest to create yet another concrete jungle, so why is this proposal even being considered?

Developers claim they want to benefit the Hixson area and its residents, but they seem to turn a blind eye to the fact that we do not want them here. If we wanted to be surrounded by concrete and traffic, we would move to the Hamilton Place area.

One of the draws to living in Hixson is the wonderful balance between commercial/residential real estate and natural beauty. Why ruin a good thing?
