BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The mother of a Georgia woman whom authorities believe was abducted posted a video on YouTube urging a woman who wrote an anonymous letter about the case to come forward.
Authorities say Kristi Cornwell was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her cell phone Aug. 11.
In December, a sketch and vehicle description was released of a man involved in an incident in Cherokee County, N.C., where a woman was attacked by a man driving a late model Nissan Xterra, according to John Bankhead with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He said investigators believe the Ranger incident and Miss Cornwell’s disappearance could be related.
In January, the Cherokee and Union County sheriff’s offices received an anonymous letter from a woman who said the sketch of the Ranger suspect looked like her grandson and that the grandson drove a Nissan Xterra.
The letter writer indicated her grandson was in that area of western North Carolina during the time of both incidents.
Jo Ann Cornwell urged the writer of the letter in a YouTube video posted Thursday to go to authorities.
She says she’s “in a nightmare everyday” and told the grandmother who wrote the letter her “suspicions are not just a coincidence.”
Anyone with any possible information on the letter writer or the grandson is asked to contact the GBI at 1-800-597-TIPS.
