NEW YORK (AP) – More than six dozen works of art are being sold at Sotheby’s fall auction, including blue-chip works of art from the renowned collection of its late former owner, A. Alfred Taubman.

The 77 works sold Wednesday include Willem de Kooning’s “Untitled XXI,” which sold for nearly $25 million.

Amedeo Modigliani’s “Paulette Jourdain” sold for $42.8 million, exceeding the estimate of $25 million.

Pablo Picasso’s “Woman Seated on a Chair” sold for more than $20 million and Frank Stella’s “Delaware Crossing” set a record with a nearly $13.7 million sale.

Taubman died in April. His reputation was tarnished in 2001 when he was convicted in a price-fixing scandal.

A nude portrait from Picasso, “The Night Club Singer,” is estimated to sell for $60 million. The seller is billionaire William Koch (kohk).
